Engram named to Mackey Award watch list

By John Davis, Oxford Citizen

Ole Miss junior tight end Evan Engram was named to the John Mackey Award watch list. The award is given annually to the nation’s top-rated tight end.

Mackey, who is one of six players from the SEC on this year’s list, was a semifinalist for the award in 2014. He is one of 33 tight ends in the nation nominated for the award. Engram, who will be one of three Rebels at SEC Media Days next week, comes into his junior season with 59 catches for 930 yards and five touchdowns.

Engram earned unanimous All-SEC recognition following his sophomore season, and was named to the Sports Illustrated second team an All-American selection.

Cannot wait for football season to kick off. Looking forward to Ingram having another breakout year. Hope some of these juniors will stick around for their senior year. If they do, then Ole Miss has a real shot at the SEC title…IMHO.
