Don’t get your hopes up here. Half of the limited viewing periods did not include starters.
I will tell you that Justin Bell, senior returning starter at right guard, was grouped with the centers during the viewing periods.
This is something Bell predicted at the end of last season.
Hugh Freeze talks about his plan for Bell here. It includes guard and center:
Sophomore Rod Taylor was running first team at right guard, next to Ben Still at center.
The rest of the line included Laremy Tunsil at left tackle, Aaron Morris at left guard and Fahn Cooper at right tackle.
Freeze has raved about Morris in the off-season, his weight loss, and how Freeze believes he’s in better condition right now in his second ACL rehab than he was last year in his first. Morris is listed at 313 now after playing parts of last season at 345.
For now, Morris hasn’t been released for contact. For the sake of non-contact drills it appears they are keeping him at first team ahead of freshman Javon Patterson.
Here’s a little OL video. Patterson is No. 79.
The rest of the second team during today’s viewable drills included Christian Morris at left tackle, Robert Conyers at center, Jordan Sims at right guard and Sean Rawlings at right tackle.
Not much else to report although it does look like defensive end Fadol Brown has added a little more color to his dreads.
Here’s a look at some of the running backs farther down the depth chart including redshirt freshman DK Buford (35), a recent move from defensive back:
