Reports: Taylor injured

Update 3:51 p.m.

The school has confirmed Taylor’s injury saying it occurred on Wednesday during a “non-football” activity and that the “extent is unknown.”

Ole Miss offensive lineman Rod Taylor will be out for an unspecified amount of time following a shoulder injury from an apparent boxing match, according to multiple reports.

The Ole Miss Spirit and reported the injury occurred on Wednesday.

That would have been just hours after offensive line coach Matt Luke during a meeting with local media praised Taylor, a sophomore from Jackson who has been running first team at right guard, for making good decisions.

The school has not confirmed the injury, but the Spirit reports it is waiting on test results to determine the severity.

“Rod’s been doing the little things off the field – accountability, discipline, showing up on time and doing the little things right. Athleticism and talent aren’t Rod’s issues. He’s got to learn how to focus and be able to finish, but he’s a very talented young man,” Luke said Wednesday.
