Pack’s up to speed

We hear athletes all the time talk about the difference in speed in moving from high school to college. That applies in some way to every sport.

There is an adjustment period, and it took Markell Pack a while to master it.

Now he feels that he has. He felt himself playing at a faster pace as the season progressed last year, and he didn’t feel like he lost a step when spring ball rolled around.

At three-quarter speed Pack, a former Florida State commit, still had 14 catches for 173 yards as a true freshman.

He also settled in as the punt returner. He averaged only 5.3 yards per attempt but was there because he was a dependable ball-handler.

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze says Pack right now is the No. 2 punt return choice behind Carlos Davis.
