Wednesday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Wednesday morning …

It was good to see a little more at Ole Miss practice yesterday. The next round of interviews will be Friday, and that will be with players and assistant coaches.

Andy Kennedy and assistant basketball coach Bill Armstrong were at part of practice today.

So, defense is really good, or offensive line is really bad?

There was not a lot of talk about Texas A&M at SEC Media Days. Some think the Aggies are overlooked including their head coach, Kevin Sumlin. Gabe Bock of TexAgs radio made an interesting point the other day. He says A&M and Auburn finished with the same 8-5 records last year, and A&M returns a quarterback with more starts. John Chavis as defensive coordinator — and defense has been the biggest problem at A&M — makes this an interesting team to watch. …

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier wants to see the Gamecocks pick up the pace. …

I can think of a lot of outlets through the years who should have been denied credentials. The guys who take press box selfies and call friends before kickoff come to mind. This occurred at the Georgia Dome for Ole Miss-Boise last year. It looks very strange, however, that these guys have been denied, and this looks like pettiness for some reason on the part of Iowa. …

No starter named yet but no quarterback worries for Georgia.

Few know more about the Alabama quarterbacks right now than Crimson Tide center Ryan Kelly. …
