Virginia Tech made No. 1 Ohio State sweat a little bit Monday night, but not for long. On a team with lots of star power, none shines brighter for the Buckeyes than Braxton Miller. Watching him the other night I recalled all the transfer to the SEC rumors. He would certainly have helped someone. …

LSU’s cancellation of its season opener against McNeese — college football rained out — changes the dynamics for the Tigers who now open their season at Mississippi State this week. Local folks may remember it was the LSU game a year ago that kind of set the Bulldogs on their run to No. 1 in the polls, a position they held for five weeks. …

The SEC championship game will remain in Atlanta, and it will be played in the sparkling new Mercedes-Benz Stadium beginning in 2017. ¬†And while it’s an open or closed stadium don’t expect the SEC to open the roof.

Speaking of the SEC, from the conference smack talk department here’s an interesting tid-bit on Week 1:
