Game Day: Ole Miss at Florida

Since last we spoke there’s been no change in the status of Will Grier, the Gators’ redshirt freshman QB, who coach Jim McElwain says may not play because of the flu.

More here. There were many unnamed Florida players who were affected by the flu earlier this week. Grier’s name has leaked, but it’s possible others could play in a weakened condition, play less or not play at all.

From the Mother Ship …

Notes: Ole Miss QB DeVante Kincade, once a part of a three-player competition to start, has not appeared in the last two games. … Ole Miss leads the SEC in passing offense and ranks sixth in rushing offense. … The Rebels did not intercept a pass against Vanderbilt but lead the SEC with nine passes intercepted. … Ole Miss has started 4-0 in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1961-62. … A win over Florida would even the Rebels’ record at 34-34 against SEC East teams since divisional play began in 1992.

Summing it up: They are only giving up 17-18 points a game. Their linebackers are extremely athletic, and everyone knows about their back end. They are definitely one of the best defenses in the country, and they are going to test us for sure.” – Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze on Florida, today’s opponent

Prediction: Ole Miss 27, Florida 26
