Florida seemed in control in the SEC East. News of Will Grier’s suspension places a different spin on the division.

I still think the Gators win it. After a trip to LSU Saturday, probably a loss, they have three SEC games remaining … Georgia in Jacksonville, Vanderbilt at home and at South Carolina.

I saw the second half of that Georgia-Tennessee game. There’s been a lot of talk about the dropped touchdown and rightfully so, but Georgia’s tackling in the second half was the worst I’ve seen in an SEC game in a long time. I’ll take the Gators there.

There’s always something around Bret Bielema. He’s catching a little heat for what’s been described as a “flop” that resulted in a penalty against an Alabama offensive line. That’s an accurate description, but the flop wasn’t that bad, and the player was in the wrong for initiating contact. It’s all here.

Forty-six straight college football games is an impressive Iron Man streak, but it looks like it’s about to end for Georgia’s Jordan Jenkins, a senior outside linebacker. …

Timing is everything, and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was a little quick on the draw in congratuating the Astros. I grew listening to the Astros in the 70s and 80s on AM radio. I saw some great players there — Hank Aaron, Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, Dave Parker, Nolan Ryan and others — but I fear the Astros run is over. …
