Four Take-Aways from Ole Miss-Memphis

Three Take-Aways from Ole Miss’ 37-24 loss to Memphis …

Poor Tackling: I can’t remember when I’ve seen it worse. Memphis backs and receivers broke tackles and constantly finished plays going forward. The gang-tackling the Ole Miss defense has been known for was virtually non-existent. One bright spot was Breeland Speaks. After the Robert Nkemdiche injury Speaks finished with six tackles and two tackles for loss.

Here’s Freeze:

Poor Coverage: Paxton Lynch is a great quarterback, and his receivers were consistently open on deep out routes. Ole Miss players were too far away to affect the play.

Third downs: Terrible on both sides. When you consider that many of those out routes came on third down it’s easy to see why Memphis was 12-for-20 in moving the chains on that critical down.

Heart: Ole Miss safety said Memphis had it and Ole Miss didn’t. Hard to disagree.

No heart? Makes one wonder WHAT is going on in the locker room? Is there no one to get these guys fired up? Disappointment in all phases of the game. I know there are key injuries but ‘no heart’ just doesn’t cut it.
Should Coach Freeze reshuffle the deck to start a fire under these guys? If not, then Ole Miss will be lucky to win enough games to go to a post season bowl.

Ole Miss in deep trouble in keeping up with the pack, Tex A&M,LSU, Ark, and Miss State, will Rebels win or lose these four games? my guess .. no. Is Coach Freeze and his staff able enough to keep up with the competition that Miss rebels are faced with? Questionable!!

Freeze takes a sure fire top 5 pick DT and puts him in at RB? Then he gets concussed…probably costing him millions. STUPID.

    • Cal Bell’s daddy

I’m sure he will never make it in the NFL because he got a concussion on that play. Stupid comment.
      Typical state fan.

Any fool knows that after your 1st concussion, it’s easier to get the 2nd, 3rd and so on. NFL teams know this and it probably drops Dechi a few spots, costing him a few million…stupido!!!!

    • Cal Bell’s dadday

hahahaaha he called me stupido. Sounds like an 11 year old
