Some players get a kick out of road games, and Kyle Allen appears to be one of those players.
The Texas A&M quarterback seems especially excited about playing at Ole Miss.
So does his family.
“I just grew up watching games, watching Ole Miss games throughout the years. It’s not a huge stadium, but fans come, they come ready, and they’re loud. It’s just an awesome atmosphere. My family is excited to go tailgate there, hang out there and stuff like that. Everyone’s excited about it.”
Allen, rated the No. 1 pro style quarterback by Rivals.com in the Class of 2014, is trying to overcome a three-interception game. All of them were returned for touchdowns as the Aggies lost by 18 points to Alabama.
“I didn’t deal with it as well in the Pop Warner days as I do now. I would be very emotional back then. I would go in my room and lock myself in my room after those games.”
At this level Allen talks about finding his mistakes on film and correcting them.
“It’s just learning from your mistakes, putting it in the past and moving on. I owe that to my teammates not to dwell on something. My teammates aren’t here to get on to me about it because I played a below average game. It’s just about learning from the mistakes schematically and becoming a better quarterback. You look at the tape the same. You look at your mistakes and what you did well and build off of that.”
Allen says he gets pumped up to play in SEC stadiums. He says he’s even excited about the airline food on the trip over. It won’t take too many flights to get him past that.
“I’m excited to fly on a plane and get the plane food honestly. That’s what I’m excited about. I love playing road games. I love playing in the atmosphere of road games, especially in the SEC with the great stadiums you can play in. We’re going to play at Ole Miss this year and at LSU too, two of the great stadiums in the country. I think everyone is excited about it, just to get out of Texas and play somewhere else in the country. I love playing road games, so I’m excited.”
