Kennedy, Moody excited for potential of Ole Miss basketball

Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy believes he has diverse and athletic team going into the 2015-2016 season.

The Rebels have been advanced in the NCAA tournament in two of the last three seasons including last year when they rallied from 17 points back to beat BYU in a First Four game in Dayton.

Ole Miss returns an All-SEC guard in Stefan Moody, the league’s leading returning scorer but will rely on several key transfers to have quick impacts around him.

Here’s Kennedy:

Moody says he likes the talent level on this team. What it lacks in experience in the backcourt it will make up for in speed and quickness he says.

For the first time in four years the Rebels are looking for a point guard. They’ll start juco transfer Sam Finley, who like Moody, had success in D1 basketball before moving on to junior college. Finley played as a freshman at Cal-Riverside.

Moody also has high praise for Liberty University post-grad transfer Tomasz Gielo, a 6-9, 230-pound forward who was a 40-percent 3-point shooter for the Flames.
