What motivates the Rebels

Last year’s 30-0 loss to Arkansas was not the first loss in a stumble at the finish. It was, however, the first loss in which the Rebels looked disinterested and out of it.

Here’s what Hugh Freeze, D.T. Shackelford and Dave Wommack had to say in the postgame interviews:

The Rebels responded the following week with an emotional and impressive home win over Mississippi State. Maybe the left it all on the field then, because they appeared out of it again in the Peach Bowl in a 42-3 loss.

There’s no doubt that last year’s game helps motivate Ole Miss for tomorrow’s 2:30 kick against the Razorbacks.

I was a little surprised earlier this week at how quickly Freeze jumped on that question, saying that as a coach on the offensive side of the ball how it motivates him as well.

We’ll see how all that motivation translates tomorrow.
