Tuesday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Tuesday morning …

Ole Miss offensive lineman Christian Morris tweeted the news on Saturday that his career was over because of the potential for a spinal injury. He shared this yesterday:

Early Monday the Missouri mess was unresolved, and a strike by football players, had it held up, could cost the school more than $1 million. Things changed later Monday with the president’s resignation.

Missouri coach Gary Pinkel said he made the right decision in supporting his players and if faced with the same issues would make the same decision.

The Missouri thing comes at an interesting time relative to cost of attendance and more money in the scholarship checks of athletes.

Players have every right to voice their opinions and should be applauded for taking a stand for their beliefs, but if they walked off a job site they wouldn’t get paid. The university could take a similar stance, but it would be a public relations disaster. …
