Spanning the globe on a Wednesday morning …
Alma Mater U is looking for a new coach. Here’s a nice roundup of what that perfect candidate should consider. I’ve seen Frank Wilson’s name tossed about. He’s the running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at LSU. You may remember him as an energetic recruiter on Ed Orgeron’s Ole Miss staff. The job paid just $360,000 to Todd Berry, a figure that will have to increase. It did, however, include housing and car allowances. That can help $360,000 keep you above the poverty level.
If a major college assistant takes the job I suspect it’s one who really wants to become a head coach.
I’ll be interested to see if Will Hall’s name makes it into the mix. He’s got 22 wins in two years at West Georgia, but the more impressive thing is how he won at Livingston. Knowing how to win with limited resources would come in handy in Monroe.
Will Houston be getting the gang back together:
Don't be surprised if Houston Nutt gets a look for the #UCF job. New AD Danny White and Nutt were together at Ole Miss in 2011.
Being outstanding on defense yet mediocre where it matters may be hard to do, but it’s certainly possible:
Missouri coach Gary Pinkel says he might have coached another three to four years without the cancer diagnosis:
Pinkel, on Finebaum, says he feels as if he might have coached 3-4 more years if not for the cancer diagnosis.
