Statement on Denzel Nkemdiche

Update 2:25 p.m.

Our Nkemdiche story. The fact that the statement says his condition is not life-threatening implies that at one time it was. He won’t play this week, maybe not again, though no one has addressed anything beyond the present.

This was released by the school this afternoon and is attributed to Denzel Nkemdiche’s parents and Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze:

“Denzel’s condition has improved as of today, and he will remain in the hospital.  His wellbeing is all that matters right now, and we are making sure he receives the highest level of medical care.  While his condition is not life-threatening, he will not play this weekend.  We thank the Ole Miss family for their concern and encouragement, and we appreciate everyone respecting the family’s privacy during this time.”
