Rebels Rise

After a 38-27 Egg Bowl win Ole Miss jumps three spots to No. 16 in this week’s AP Top 25 and two spots to No. 17 in the coaches poll.

The College Football Playoff committee’s rankings come out Tuesday.

It’s all here.

I guess all that left for Ole Miss to do now is await the Bowl invitations. Rebels had a very impressive season with a 9-3 season, and second in SEC West, but rebel fans have solid clain and bragging rights to be the best in the SEC West, with impressive victories over LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Miss State, Tex A&M, Vandy, and almost beating Arkansas. I think Sugar Bowl would be appropriate – looking back to the good old times when Archie Who was king of the rebels

We’ll have to wait until tomorrow night when the selection committee comes out with their CFP rankings. IF the Rebels are ranked higher than Florida (and they could very well be) and Alabama seals the deal this weekend in Atlanta, then say hello to the Sugar Bowl. I would love it if the Rebels got another crack at the Horn Toads (TCU). Let’s see if they can beat a HEALTHY Ole Miss this time.

I feel that the MIssissippi people do hate Florida and the Gators, but no worry Mississippi folk Gators will probably lose to the TIde, barring a miracle, Gators have no productive offense, except in their All-American RB Kevan Taylor, but Kevan cannot carry the Offense by himself, Gator got one of the better defenses in the nation, They held high flying Mississippi offense to just 10 points, but they need help from the Offensive to keep defense off the playing field for a rest up. GO Gators beat Alabama!!!

JB…you sound bitter. Mississippi “folks” don’t hate Florida. I’m not a fan of any particular team in the east division…but, if I was, it would be Florida.
Yes, the Gators held the high flying Rebel offense to 10 points and by the same token, Ole Miss scored 42 points on the best defense in the nation: Bama.
If Ole Miss were to play Bama right now, who do you think would win? And if Florida were to play Ole Miss right now who do you think would win? Lots of things happen during the season. Defenses get better OR worse and offenses can certainly flip flop. The Rebels are ‘clicking on all cylinders’ and Florida is not. That’s not ‘hate’…just reality.
I wish the Gators a successful bowl game wherever they go to play.

K_B I think if ole Miss and Alabama got a rematch, I believe Bama would beat the Rebels, now a rematch between Ole miss and Gators, I believe rebels win, due to Florida.s non-productive offense. Have a good day and enjoy the Sugar Bowl
