I was working in the press box hours before the game when I heard an MSU media relations employee tell a fellow worker that certain words and phrases were not acceptable on the video boards and that only messaging that promoted MSU was acceptable. These guys didn’t get that message I reckon. …

Couple of bowl projections here, one with Ole Miss in the Citrus,┬áhere’s Jerry Palm with the Rebels in the Citrus, and here’s the Orlando Sentinel, that you would think would be in touch with both the Citrus Bowl and the Florida Gators, with the Gators in the Citrus and Ole Miss in the Sugar. For all the drama surrounding the Les Miles soap opera, lo and behold it was Mark Richt who was fired on Sunday.

Things seemed to have settled down for Richt, but maybe that was the calm before the storm.

Among the early names linked with the Georgia job are Dan Mullen, and also Kirby Smart. There had been a lot of Smart to South Carolina talk before Richt’s firing.

I’m told there was some Hugh Freeze to LSU speculation on the ESPN2 broadcast Saturday. Did anyone else hear it? This was the only link I came up with, and it was before LSU’s re-commitment to Miles, obviously. This is from a New Orleans blog.

    PA. Yes, one of the ESPN2 announcers said that he thought that Freeze would be a great fit at LSU. This was the same announcer who seemed to be on a Dak promotional tour the entire game.
