Three Ole Miss players were named All-Americans by The Associated Press on Sunday.
Junior defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche was named to the AP’s second team for the second straight season.
He was joined by senior safety Trae Elston on the second team. Wide receiver Laquon Treadwell made the third team.
Earlier Sunday news broke that Nkemdiche, of Loganville, Georgia, had been involved in an accident at an Atlanta hotel and was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition. Police found what they believed to be marijuana in the hotel room.
Nkemdiche has anchored the Rebels’ defensive line for three seasons. He has 29 tackles, seven tackles for loss and three sacks this season.
Elston, of Oxford, Alabama, split time at free safety and strong safety this season. He is currently second in the SEC in passes defended with 16 and tied for fourth in interceptions with four.
Treadwell, a junior from Crete, Illinois, overcame a broken leg and dislocated ankle in 2014 to post 1,082 receiving yards on 76 catches. He needs three catches and 54 yards in the Sugar Bowl against Oklahoma State to set Ole Miss single season records in those categories.
