Saiz surgery goes well

Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy says this morning’s surgery to repair a detached retina for junior forward Sebastian Saiz “went well.” There will be follow-up conversations with the doctor tomorrow that will shed some light on how long Saiz might be out. The original thought was that Saiz would be out for a couple of weeks, but there will also be a pain tolerance factor in there.

Saiz is the Rebels’ second-leading scorer and is the second-leading rebounder in the SEC. He will not play tonight against South Carolina and is not expected to play Saturday at Mississippi State. The Rebels are at home against Auburn on Jan. 27 and on the road at Kansas State in the Big 12-SEC Challenge the following Saturday.
