Ole Miss let an opportunity for a solid resume-building when slip through its grasp when it lost at Texas A&M.
Ole Miss is 1-4 against the RPI to 50 and A&M, at 25, was the Rebels’ last top 50 chance in the regular season.
In spite of that Andy Kennedy believes the Rebels can still make an NCAA tournament run without having to win the SEC tournament championship.
“Where was Alabama two weeks ago? They’re in the tournament right now. You can say, ‘Well, they’ve had more opportunities.’ Guys, where were the Ole Miss Rebels last year? I mean I’ve been on both sides of this and in the middle. For us, the thing I’m most excited about is that we are whole. I’ve got to get Moody playing like the all-league player that he is. I’ve got to get Rasheed Brooks hitting some shots. I like where we are. I know we have five games that will tell the tale for us on what needs to happen in Bridgestone Arena (in the SEC tournament).”
According to the ESPN projected RPI, Ole Miss has an RPI of 84, ninth in the SEC. Four of the Rebels’ final five opponents have an RPI of 122 or lower. The fifth team, Georgia, has an RPI of 72.
