Ole Miss picked fifth in SEC West in league baseball coaches poll

Ole Miss was picked fifth in the SEC Western Division in the league’s baseball coaches preseason poll released today.

Texas A&M received eight first-place votes and LSU five. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own teams.

Florida received 13 first-place votes to win the overall SEC. Vanderbilt received one first-place vote and was picked to finish second in the Eastern Division.

Ole Miss shortstop Errol Robinson made the preseason All-SEC second team. Robinson is rated by Baseball America as the top college shortstop in the draft class. The coaches placed Missouri’s Ryan Howard on the All-SEC first team.

Arkansas was picked third in the West, Mississippi State fourth, Auburn sixth and Alabama seventh.

Behind Florida and Vanderbilt, the Eastern Division goes South Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri, Georgia and Tennessee.
