Ole Miss 5, UAB 1

Not a good offensive day for the Rebels but very good pitching as they record a two-game mid-week sweep of UAB and their 12th-straight win of the season.

Here’s Mike Bianco:

Ole Miss had seven singles from seven different hitters but had just five hits through eight innings.

The Rebels scored five runs on six walks and three wild pitches from three different UAB pitchers in the fifth.

Ole Miss also had a sac fly in the fifth, but UAB did not commit an error in that inning.

Freshman right-hander James McArthur notched his second-straight quality start for the Rebels. He went five innings scattering five hits, with five strikeouts, no walks and one run allowed. It was earned.

The Rebels will leave Birmingham tomorrow and continue on to Knoxville where they open SEC play against Tennessee this weekend.

Ole Miss not having a good weekend up in Knoxville, but their brethern Miss State having a great one beating the No.2 team Vandy twice. a win today for State would be for the sweep. Rebels need a win in today’s game for the a series win..
