Vitter Q-and-A

From the Mother Ship, good stuff here with Ole Miss chancellor Jeffrey Vitter.

I said down with Vitter shortly before leaving for the combine and discussed his thoughts on athletics in general, Ole Miss in particular.

Here’s what he had to say in in a Q-and-A.

Most Ole Miss fans will appreciate the fact that their chancellor understands the LSU rivalry. Jeffrey Vitter does and has the unusual experience of growing up in New Orleans and cheering for Ole Miss mostly because he was not an LSU fan.

He talks about that here as he explains how much he enjoys it when Ole Miss is “kicking the Tigers’ butt.”

Also, as college athletics programs search for new revenue streams to keep up with the demands for modern venues, amenities and coaching salaries one stream they always return to is private giving.

With individuals giving major sums the risk is always there for some individuals to become too close to university affairs.

Here’s how Vitter and athletics director Ross Bjork work to keep donations and influence separate.
