Lady Indians sweep Tupelo tourney

IUKA – The IAHS Lady Indian fastpitch team enjoyed the most successful week of any squad in the county after starting it off on the wrong foot.

The Lady Indians were trounced 10-0 during a visit to Corinth for a rescheduled division 1-4A game last Monday before hosting division rival Tishomingo County on Tuesday evening.

The Lady Indians jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning before falling behind 3-2 in the fourth.

IAHS managed to push a run across in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game before scoring in the bottom of the seventh to claim the 4-3 victory.

Taylor Cresap, Breanna Moore and Kayla Norris all tallied a pair of hits apiece, and Moore and Norris drove in all four (two each) of the Lady Indians’ runs.

Cresap went the distance on the mound for IAHS, striking out four batters and giving up three runs on three hits.

Corinth 10, IAHS 0 (3/16)

The Lady Warriors got to IAHS pitcher Taylor Cresap for 10 runs on five hits.
The Lady Indians made six errors and only totaled three hits in the loss.

IAHS 4, Saltillo 2 (3/21)

The Lady Indians scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning on RBIs by Cresap (2), and Mallory Mabus.
Mabus, Lilli Moore, Haley Floyd and Mariah Stevens all crossed the plate in the frame for IAHS.

IAHS 15, Oxford 2 (3/21)

Eight Lady Indians recorded at least one hit and eight recorded at least one walk as IAHS routed the Oxford Lady Chargers in the Tupelo tournament.

McKenzie Coleman led the way offensively with two hits, three RBI and a run scored.

IAHS 7, Byhalia 2 (3/21)

Neely Grubbs and Breanna Moore had a pair of singles, while Kayla Norris singled and doubled, and Cresap added two doubles as the IAHS bats erupted in the final game of the Tupelo tournament.

Grubbs and Moore each drove in two runs to lead the Lady Indians.
