IAHS soccer picking up key wins

FULTON – The Itawamba AHS soccer squads are off to prettysoccer-ball-clipart-nix8zlqxt good starts in the 2016-2017 season, as the boys sport a 3-2-1 record while the girls are sitting at 2-3.

The boys recently picked up road wins over Tishomingo County and Mooreville on penalty kicks, after finishing regulation tied.

Against Tishomingo County, the boys finished regulation tied at 4-4 on goals by Coby Williamson (2), Caleb Whittle and Skylar Grissom, and assists from Whittle and Dhruv Patel.

The Indians went on to win on penalty kicks, with goals coming from Grissom, Patel, Kaleb Riley, Luke Yarbrough and Bryson Hamm.

The Indians also topped Mooreville with penalty kicks, after finishing tied 3-3.

Grissom, Whittle and Noah Locastro provided regulation goals, while penalty kicks in extra time from Williamson, Riley, Grissom, Yarbrough and Patel would finish the Troopers off.

Williamson, Hamm and Whittle also recorded assists in regulation.

The girls knocked off Tishomingo County in the season-opener, thanks to goals from Brittany Sullivan and Emma Logan, before falling to Mooreville 1-0.
