“American Idol,” 3/11

Mississippi native Jasmine Murray and Jorge Nunez from Puerto Rico were sent home on “American Idol” Wednesday.

Murray, 17, of Columbus, was the first sent home of the night, followed by Nunez.

In a new twist, last night the show announced Judges’ Save – a rule that the show’s four judges can unanimously save one contestant from getting axed, and no one will be cut that week; however there would be a double elimination the following week. The judges can save only one contestant per season. The show cited the early eliminations of contestants like Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry as a reason for this.

The judges did not use the Judges’ Save for either Murray or Nunez.
