TUPELO – Hot air balloons will grace the skies of Tupelo this weekend.
The Up Up and Away Festival is today and Saturday in Ballard Park, featuring hot air balloon rides, games, music and more.
The festival begins at 5 p.m. today with an opening and blessing of the grounds, followed by Elvis tribute bands at 6 and 7 p.m. Tethered rides ad hot air balloon glowing will take place that evening, times to be determined, as long as weather and wind permits.
The festival opens Saturday at 9 a.m. with the Helping Hands Helping Homeless 5k.
Arts, crafts and food vendors will open at 10 a.m. There will be a DJ and magic show, followed by music by acts like the Mink Brothers.
There also will be tethered rides and hot air balloon glowing on Saturday, so long as weather permits.
All balloon flights, glows and tethers are early or late in the day, so morning events will take place about 6 a.m. and evening events will take place about 6 p.m.
Kids’ activities include face-painting, inflatables, rock wall and more.
