Baldwyn Main Street Players present holiday musical

Snow will fall soon in Baldwyn – but it’s not real snow. It’ll be a part of “Dreaming of a White Christmas,” a production of Baldwyn Main Street Players.
It’s as close as possible to the original 1954 Bing Crosby holiday classic, but with a few twists – like an appearance by the Chipmunks, for example. Still, the heartwarming story of two soldiers-turned-entertainers is still intact, said director Karen Davis.
“It’s fun,” said Keith Williams, who stars as Phil, one of the talented soldiers. “The sky’s the limit as far as the energy you can put into it.”
“Dreaming of a White Christmas” is the story of two soldiers, Bob (Steve Collins) and Phil (Williams) who put on a show to help their former general’s failing ski lodge.
Williams said Phil’s a fun guy to play.
“He’s something of an entertainer and war hero and sort of a ladies’ man – or at least he thinks he is,” he said.
Speaking of the ladies, Kim Grissom stars as Rita Soler, a lounge singer.
“She’s sassy, and she has a flirtatious side,” she said. “I get to sing ‘Santa Baby.’”
With its songs everyone can sing along with and the heart-warming story, “Dreaming of a White Christmas” is part of the bigger “White Christmas” tradition.
“It’s got great music and it’s family-friendly,” Grissom said. “It’s a put-you-in-the-Christmas-mood kind of comedy.”
