The 6th Annual March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction will be Nov. 10 at the BancorpSouth Conference Center behind the Hilton Garden Inn in Tupelo.
The 6:30 p.m. event will feature chefs, bakers and one coffee roaster who’ll provide a sampling of some of their signature dishes. There will also be a live auction, silent auction and an open bar.
“It looks like this year we’re not going to have an empty seat in the house and the event seats 450 people.” said Kelly Brewer, community director for the March of Dimes in North Mississippi. “But we’ll make room for anyone who wants to come.”
Tickets are $75 each or $100 per couple and are available at the door or by calling (662) 844-6901.
Last year’s event raised $55,000. This year’s goal, Brewer said, is $60,000.
All proceeds go directly to the March of Dimes, which seeks to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
Rose McCoy of Creative Cakes will be offering her ever-popular petit fours at the event and, if fresh strawberries look nice, she’ll also have some chocolate-dipped tuxedo strawberries.
“I’ve been in this March of Dimes event since the very first one and I plan to keep doing them until I die,” McCoy said. “This benefits babies in our area and hopefully we’ll find a solution to the problem of birth defects.”
Joel Miller, chef and owner of Ravine in Oxford, will be participating for the first time.
“I don’t know what I’m going to make yet,” Miller said. “I’ll decide three or four days before the event. I know it sounds weird, but I work better under pressure.”
