It’s best of both worlds this weekend at West of Shake Rag’s monthly show. This month the Tupelo-based improv group teams up with Oxford’s Laff Co.

‘Six Degrees’ exhibit
opens at GumTree

New media artist Lori Gordon’s work is on display now at the GumTree Museum of Art in a new exhibit, “Six Degrees: West to East.”
The work incorporates digital photographic imaging, painting and collage to create images that reflect on European and Middle Eastern cultures.
An opening reception is tonight at the museum from 5-7. It’s free.
Her exhibit will be up at the museum through July 28.

‘Jurassic Pick’ on display
Saturday in New Albany

The “Jurassic Pick,” the ornithopod dinosaur bone featured on “American Pickers,” will be on display at the Union County Heritage Museum’s Fossil Road Show and Gem, Mineral and Bead Sale on Saturday.
The large dinosaur bone was sold at the Ripley First Monday Trade Day and was featured on “American Pickers” last year.
The show and sale begins at 9 a.m. Saturday. George Phillips, paleontologist with the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, will present “Dinosaurs in Mississippi,” at 11 a.m. The event closes at 3 p.m.

Movie, music series begins
this Friday in Avent Park

The Movies & Concerts in the Park series starts Friday in Avent Park in Oxford.
Bayes & Guyers Duo will kick off the night at 7 p.m., followed “Toy Story 3” at 8 p.m.
It’s free.
The series continues with Maybelle’s Lovers and “Superman” on June 22, Love Cannon and “Karate Kid” on July 13, Silas Reed N Da Books and “Meet the Fockers” on July 27.
Blankets, lawn chairs and coolers are welcome.
