‘Tuesdays with Morrie’
at Lyric on Friday, Saturday
The Tupelo Reads selection “Tuesdays with Morrie” will come to life at The Lyric Theatre this weekend.
Directed by Susan Tims, the play stars Harold Plunkett as Morrie and Christopher Walrath as Mitch. Show times are 7:30 p.m. tonight and Friday, and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Sparks Family and others to perform
at bluegrass festival Saturday
The 28th Annual Sparks Family Bluegrass Festival is slated for this weekend.
The Sparks Family Singers, Adams Brothers Bluegrass, Good Time Grass and Lisa Lambert & the Pine Ridge Boys are performing, including several other bands. The music begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Sparks Family Homeplace Park on Rock Creek Road about four and a half miles west of Belmont.
It’s free to attend, and camper hook-ups are $10. Concessions will be open and lawn chairs are welcome.

Arts, crafts, motorcycle rides
at the Algoma Cross-Tie Festival
A motorcycle ride, 5K run-walk, arts and crafts, entertainment, auctions, horseshoe throwing contest and kids’ activities are all on schedule for the Algoma Cross-Tie Festival this weekend.
The arts and crafts vendors will open at 7 a.m. Saturday, with the race starting at 9 a.m. and the motorcycle ride and entertainment beginning at 10 a.m.

Haunted houses, corn maze
kick off Halloween season
The Wise Family Farm’s “Hillbillies and Aliens” Corn Maze opens this weekend. The maze, located in the Shady Grove Community in Pontotoc County, will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Saturday-Oct. 31. Hours are 7-11 p.m. Fridays, 2-11 p.m. Saturdays and 2-9 p.m. Sundays. There are also campfires for groups of 10 or more, and a pumpkin patch.

The Haunted Castle in Tupelo opens Friday and continues for every Friday and Saturday in October, 6 p.m. until. Tickets are $10 and all ages are welcome. The Haunted Castle is located at 3201 East Main St. in the Skyline community.
