Pierson-Frost

The children of Debbie Coggins Pierson and Don Frost announce their engagement.

The bride-elect is the daughter of the late J.D. and Josie Coggins of Pontotoc, and the late Pearlie Mae Collier of Fulton. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Travis Jamerson of Fulton; the late Mr. and Mrs. Elemer Munlin of Pontotoc; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Burt Coggins of Marks.

She is a graduate of Pontotoc High School. She is a CNA and DCW at the North Mississippi Regional Center of Oxford.

The prospective groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Meyers of Fulton. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Frost of Florida; the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Meyers; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Austin Rivers.

He is an employee of Thompson Power in Tupelo.

Craig Clayton of Ecru, and Howard and Leticia Trippe of Saltillo announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Clayton, to Joshua Copeland, son of Tim and Arianae Miller of Saltillo, and Curtis and Angela Copeland of Pontotoc.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Donald and Carol Ann McNutt of Blue Springs; Doug and June Spencer of Fulton; and Ray and Laverne Clayton of Mooreville.

She is a graduate of Saltillo High School and Creations Cosmetology School. She is a hairstylist at Options Salon in Tupelo.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Tommy and Kathy Parker of Aberdeen; Eddie and Sharon Bethany of West Memphis, Ark.; and Donna Copeland of Ripley and the late Delton “Skeeter” Copeland.

Gerald and Marilyn Short of Ripley announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristy Lane Short, to Charles Siason Mason, son of William Mason Sr. of Memphis and Lilia Mason of Collierville, Tenn.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ruby Bridges of Ripley and the late Lester Bridges; and O.V. Short of Ripley and the late Inez Short.

She is a 2003 graduate of Falkner High School in Falkner. She is a 2006 graduate of Northeast Mississippi Community College with a nursing degree. She is a registered nurse in the ICU at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Jesus and Raphaela Siason of Los Angeles, Calif.; the late Willard Mason of California; and the late Frances Pendleton of Memphis.

He is a 2000 graduate of Bartlett High School in Bartlett, Tenn. He is a cum laude graduate of the University of Memphis with a bachelor of business administration degree in management and a bachelor of science degree in nursing. He is a registered nurse in the ICU at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Mayhall; the late Betty Mayhall; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gatewood of Jackson; and Charles Mayhall of Fairview.

She is a graduate of Itawamba Agricultural High School in Fulton, where she was a member of the band and the color guard. She is an employee of Sprint Mart in Fulton.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Durward Bowyer of Chester, Va.; the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Makela of Richmond, Va.

He is a graduate of Prince George High School in Prince George, Va. He was president of Vocational and Industrial Clubs of America, and a member of the varsity football team, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Future Business Leaders of America. He served in the United States Navy. He is employed by the Lee County Sheriff’s Department in Tupelo.

Allen-Melson

Billy and Beth Allen of Baldwyn announce the engagement of their daughter, Susie Allen, to Jerry Lee Melson, son of the late Chalmers and Esther Melson of Baldwyn.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Lizzie Aldridge and the late Armour Aldridge, and the late Eula and Bonnie Allen of Baldwyn.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late W.E. and Ada McElyea, and the late Hurbert and Christine Melson of Baldwyn.

Johnson-Mills

Susan Michele “Mitzy” Johnson and John Sheldon Mills were united in marriage March 12, 2008, in the Frank Warren Chapel at Sandals Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The bride is the daughter of Ralph and Patsy Johnson of the Blackland community. She is the granddaughter of the late Ellis and Junie Hill of Blackland, and the late Naomi and Claud Johnson of Arkansas.

The groom is the son of Franklin and Virginia Mills of the Bay Springs Marina. He is the grandson of the late John and Mae Kennedy, and the late Justine and Frank Mills of Warren, Ohio.

The bride wore a full-length gown of white silk satin. The corset-seamed bodice with a sweetheart neckline and sheer quarter-length sleeves was accented with silver embroidery and crystal beadwork. The half-box pleated skirt and semi-cathedral train featured cascading crystal beads and silver embroidery matching the bodice. Her shoulder-length veil of illusion was gathered to a beaded pearl comb.

The couple is living in Starkville. The bride is the associate director of institutional research at Mississippi State University. The groom is a solid works engineer with Flexsteel Industries Inc.

A reception is being planned for April in Booneville.
