Ch-ch-ch-changes for Scene, Scene Now, me…

In case you haven’t seen today’s paper, here’s the news:

Say goodbye to Scene as you know it.

We have a few changes happening, so let me lead you through it.

For the last five years, Scott Morris and I have divided arts and entertainment right down the middle. He covered the North Mississippi arts scene (think the Tupelo Symphony Orchestra, theater and art galleries), while I’ve covered the entertainment, music and pop culture (like bands coming to the BancorpSouth Arena and other area venues and festivals).

Scott’s arts coverage has always run in the Sunday Living section, while my entertainment coverage has gone right here, in the Scene section.

Beginning with next week’s Scene section, all of the arts and entertainment coverage will go in Scene.

I take over covering ALL arts and entertainment. Scott will be telling the stories of North Mississippians over in the Living section.

All of the arts and entertainment goings on in Northeast Mississippi is quite a lot to fit into one section, but I’ll do the best I can.

We’re also working on creating an arts and entertainment website that will be the place to go to get info on what’s happening in the area.

We’re basically making things more simple. If you want to know what arts and entertainment is happening in Northeast Mississippi, you’ll be able to turn to this section in the paper, or click on over to the new website.

Pretty cool, huh?

In the Thursday Scene section, you’ll find several stories about what’s going on in the area, Scott’s movie review, the “monster” that’s full of upcmoing events and our concert grid. Gone is my Music & Fire column. Also, possibly gone, is this blog right here. It will hopefully be a part of the larger entertainment site, which should come later this month.

Keep your eyes here for updates!
