Recovering from a devastating fire in 2010 that burned the original church to the ground, the Rock Pentecostal Apostolic Church finally reopened its doors Aug. 19.
“God took care of us and held us together,” said Ledentry Forester, pastor and founder of the Rock, “We kept ourselves together by encouraging each other with our words.”
Last Saturday, Forester led a special dedication service to commemorate the new church. In the two years since the fire, the Rock’s small congregation has worshiped at a neighboring church. They did not miss a single Sunday service even in the face of disaster.
“We are very excited to be back in our own house,” Forester said.
The church boasts a strong youth presence of about 25 kids, and its service is traditional, but integrates contemporary expression through guitars and drums.
