Parade
TUPELO – A celebration of the nation’s birthday will begin at 10:30 a.m. today at the corner of Jackson and Madison streets at the bottom of the hill with the Almost Annual Red, White and Blue Popsicle Parade. The route will go down Madison and around Highland Circle. All downtown neighbors, friends and families are invited.
Parade
CARR-VISTA – The Carr-Vista community will have a parade beginning at 10:30 a.m. today. Line-up at 10:15 a.m. on Carr-Vista Road, between Winfield and Lake Crest Circle. Decorated bicycles, tricycles, wagons, golf carts, 4-wheelers and lawn mowers welcomed. Flags of all sizes appropriate. Ice cold watermelon available after parade. (662) 566-2434.

BREWER – The annual Brewer community July 4th parade will begin at 9 a.m. today, beginning at the Brewer United Methodist Church. Line-up at the church at 8:30 a.m. (662) 767-9707 or 767-3545.
Festival
JACINTO – The 32nd annual Jacinto Festival will be held on the grounds of the historic Jacinto Courthouse beginning at 8:30 a.m. today. On tap are political speeches, traditional dances by the Chucalissa Indians in ceremonial costume, pony rides and inflatables, food vendors and more. Closing ceremonies begin at 3:45 p.m. Entrance to festival, political speaking, Indian dances, taekwondo demo, and art and craft show are all free. (662) 286-8662.
Picnic

They provide sleepers, gowns, handmade quilts and blankets, burial layettes and other necessary items for babies facing health or economic crisis. Open to the public, the group asks that people bring sewing machines, sergers and scissors, and a covered dish and drink for lunch.

In months with five Thursdays, the group doesn’t meet the fifth Thursday. The club is open for persons age 50 and older. The meeting includes live music and dancing.
