TUPELO – The legendary Elton John will return to the BancorpSouth Arena for a performance on March 19.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Sir Elton back to Tupelo during our 20th anniversary season,” said Todd Hunt, director of the BancorpSouth Arena. “His sold-out appearance here in 1998 was amazing, and we can’t wait to see his new million-dollar stage production.”

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 31 and are $99 and $69.

John’s set list will include hits from his five-decade career, as well as new songs from his new album, “The Diving Board,” released in September.

“The Diving Board” was produced by T. Bone Burnett and features 12 new songs written by John and his longtime lyricist, Bernie Taupin.

John will perform at the arena with his band, made up of Davey Johnstone on guitar, bass player Matt Bissonette, John Mahon on percussion, Nigel Olsson on drums and Kim Bullard on keyboards.

John has sold 35 gold and 25 platinum albums, 29 consecutive Top 40 hits and has sold more than 250 million records worldwide. He holds the record for the biggest selling single of all time, “Candle in the Wind ’97,” which he wrote in honor of Princess Diana.

Tickets will be available through the BancorpSouth Arena box office, Ticketmaster.com and by calling (800) 745-3000.
