Moses-Childers
Wayne and Judy Moses of Red Bay, Ala., announce the engagement of their daughter, Carla Anne Moses, to Eddie Joe “Joey” Childers, son of Gib and Jane Childers of Red Bay, Ala.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Gola Moses of Red Bay and the late Herbert Moses, and Clyde and Bonnie Corble of Red Bay.
She is a 1997 graduate of Red Bay High School and a 2002 graduate of the University of North Alabama with a bachelor of science degree in fitness management. She is employed by the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Hub and Clara Childers, and the late Walter and Shelly Mae Hammock, all of Red Bay.
He is a a 1997 graduate of Red Bay High School and a 2002 graduate of the University of North Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. He is employed by Sunshine Mills in Red Bay.
The couple will exchange vows at 4 p.m. Aug. 22, 2009, at the Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church. A reception will follow at the church’s Family Life Center. Family and friends are invited.

Burnett-Gay
Susan Garris of Huntsville, Ala., and Julian Burnett of Portales, N.M., announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristen Lea Burnett, to Daniel Christian Gay, son of Joe and Brenda Gay of Ripley.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mary Burnett of Albuquerque, N.M., and the late Max Burnett; the late Lewis Sullivan; and the late Kenneth and Nancy Carraway.
She is a 1995 graduate of Grissom High School in Huntsville, Ala. She received a bachelor of arts degree in 1999 and a master of arts degree in 2001, both from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She is a special projects manager for Youth Villages in Jackson.
The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Ed and Ireta Daniel, and the late Ross and Betty Gay.
He is a graduate of Ripley High School. He is a sergeant in the U.S. Army National Guard. He has served two tours in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and one tour in Kuwait in support of Operation Southern Watch.
The couple will exchange vows at 4 p.m. Aug. 29, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Ripley. A reception will follow in the church’s Family Life Center. Family and friends are invited.

Gillentine-Green
Carolyn Gillentine of Mooreville and Jeff Green of Memphis were united in marriage on July 17, 2009, at the Park Heights Restaurant rooftop in Downtown Tupelo. Joe Dye officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Joe and Mary Carnathan of Mooreville, and the late Wayne Sullivan. She was the granddaughter of Helen Thomas of Mooreville.
The groom is the son of Gene and Ora Green of Lawrenceburg, Tenn. He is the grandson of Callie Mae McGuire and Ora Green, both of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.
The bride wore a floor-length gown of ivory chiffon with a strapless bodice.
She was attended by her daughters, Kelsey and Jordan Gillentine of Mooreville. They wore knee-length swing dresses in ivory and black.
The groom was attended by his children, Anna and Patrick Green of Sommerville, Tenn.
A reception followed at the Park Heights Restaurant rooftop.
After a honeymoon at Tybee Island, Ga., the couple is living in Tupelo. The bride is the Lee County coroner, and the groom is an employee of FedEx of Memphis.

Pryor-Hurd
Mary Anne Pryor of Saltillo and Jerry Pryor of Memphis announce the engagement of their daughter, Everlean Lavern Pryor, to Kenyatta Dewayne Hurd, son of Joe and Annie Moore of Tupelo.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mary Shaw-Quinn of Eupora and the late James Shaw Sr., and Fannie Pryor of Eupora and the late Johnny Pryor.
She is a graduate of Tupelo High School, where she was a member of the band, Shakespearean Literary Society, AACYO, SADD, French Club, Anchor Club and HOSA. She attended Jackson State University, majoring in biology. She majored in nursing at Mississippi University for Women and Northeast Mississippi Community College. She was a member of the Coretta Social Club and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She is an operating room technician at the North Mississippi Medical Center and assistant administrator at the Samaritan Gardens PCH in Tupelo.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Lorine Moore and the late Bennie Moore, and Edward Hurd and the late Corine Hurd.
He is a graduate of Mooreville High School, where he was a member of the basketball team and DECA. He earned an associate of arts degree at Itawamba Community College, where he was a member of the French Club. He is a mental health tech at the North Mississippi State Hospital in Tupelo.
The couple will exchange vows at 4 p.m. Aug. 29, 2009, at the Temple of Compassion and Deliverance in Tupelo. A reception will be at 5:30 p.m. at the Bel Air Center in Tupelo. Family and friends are invited.

Russell-Poland
Lane Marie Russell and Jonathan McNutt Poland were united in marriage on May 30, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Tupelo. Dr. Vernon Gayle Alexander officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Phillip Edward Russell of Tupelo and the late Linda Counts Russell. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Edward Counts of Tupelo, and Freddie Rudolph Russell of Tupelo and the late Edith Jones Russell.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Denson Poland of Tupelo. He is the grandson of Betty Clement McNutt of Tupelo and the late Roy Fain McNutt, and the late Angela Grillo Poland of Tupelo and the late Major Eustis Leland Poland Jr.
The bride wore a trumpet silhouette oyster-color La Sposa gown.
Brett Lauren Russell of Tupelo and Sarah Marie Young of Hattiesburg were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Charlotte Hunter Boerner, Carrie Elizabeth Hancock, Kathryn Mallory Rutledge, Andrea Paradiso Washington and Jamie Pease Wilburn, all of Tupelo, Carolyn Rebecca Lee of Clinton, Natalie Hamblin Poland of Blue Springs and Holly Marie Thurmond of Ripley, Flower girls were Haley Tess Marie Russell of Nashville, and Jordan Gail Wilburn and Olivia Claire Wilburn, both of Tupelo. The bridesmaids wore different styles of bright rhubarb-color chiffon dresses by J. Crew.
Paul Denson Poland of Tupelo was best man. Groomsmen were Jonathan Evan Chaney, Timothy Kirk Gatlin, Derrick Stephen McKinley Holland, Michael Jared Koon, Jacob Kyle Mills, Jonathan Cameron Phillips, Mark Allen Russell and Malcolm Jared Wesson, all of Tupelo, and Michael Paul Poland of Blue Springs. Ushers were William McCullen Ray and Brandon Shawn Saylors, both of Tupelo. Ringbearers were John Luke Marlin and Jake Elliot Marlin, both of Tupelo, and Charles Henry Meek of Conway, Ark.
A reception followed at The Elkin Place in Tupelo.
After a honeymoon at Sandals Regency in St. Lucia, the couple is living in Starkville. The bride is a graduate student in accounting at Mississippi State University, and the groom is an employee of Cook and Riley Inc. in Tupelo.
