Acting troupe brings on laughs for St. Paddy’s show

Tupelo improv troupe West of Shake Rag is hosting its St. Patrick’s Day comedy show this weekend.

The show is 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Link Centre’s Black Box Theatre.

Tickets are $5, and that includes free popcorn – but, sorry, no pot of gold.

Superhero drama ‘Kane’ premieres tonight at Ritz

West Point filmmaker Michael Williams is premiering his new movie, the superhero drama “Kane,” tonight at The Ritz.

The short film stars Glenn Payne, Casey Dillard and Cameron Spann, and it was shot in West Point and Tupelo.

Tickets are $7, and the movie starts at 7 p.m.

Other short movies by local filmmakers will also be shown.

Black History Month continues with performance in Corinth

Corinth Theatre-Arts is celebrating Black History Month with a one-time performance of “Gee’s Bend,” a story of quilters from the isolated area of Gee’s Bend, Ala.

The show is set for 7 p.m. Friday at the Crossroads Playhouse in Corinth.

Macedonia Baptist Church of Corinth’s praise dance team will perform, and Alberteen will provide some down-home singing.

The event is free, but a $5-10 donation is suggested.
