Big Bad Comedy Jam: Bruce Bruce, Zooman and D. Ellis bring the laughs to BancorpSouth Arena

Tupelo, get ready for a few jokes at your expense.
When comedian Bruce Bruce rolls into town for his comedy show at the BancorpSouth Arena on Friday night, he’s gonna take a second to find out what’s funny about Tupelo.
“The way I do it is, I get up there early and I learn about the city. I go to the mall. I sit and walk the mall and I walk around and I watch people,” Bruce Bruce said in a phone interview with the Daily Journal. “Then I go on stage and do a set about the city.”
Bruce Bruce, who once served as host of BET’s “ComicView” and has starred in films like “Think Like a Man” and “Idlewild,” is bringing comedians D. Ellis and Zooman out on the road with him for his “Big Bad Comedy Jam.”
“It’s not gonna be a rollercoaster,” he said about the show. “I’m not gonna take you up and down. I’m gonna take you up and up and leave you right there. That’s what it’s gonna be. That’s the only way I know how to do it.”
Zooman, he said, is a master impressionist who can pull off any voice.
He called D. Ellis a “king of comedy,” who is “funny, witty and sharp.”
Bruce Bruce’s year begins with his comedy tour, but it’s not his last.
In February he joins Sommore, Mark Curry and more for the Royal Comedy tour, and the rest of the year includes more movies and a radio show.
Touring, Bruce Bruce said, is his favorite.
“I tour every week, and I have fun. I love to see people. I love performing for people,” he said. “So, yeah, I’ll definitely be touring.”
Anyone who comes to see his show at the BancorpSouth Arena won’t be disappointed.
“First of all, I’ll say this: There is nothing to do in Tupelo, Miss. I know that for a fact,” he said, laughing. “Come out in your best attire, and I’ll find something funny. If you wanna have a good time, come out and see me, Zooman and D. Ellis in Tupelo, Miss.”
