Music, arts, more at Amory Railroad Festival

AMORY – The stars aligned for this year’s Amory Railroad Festival.

It’s the festival’s 35th year, and also the 35th anniversary of the country band Restless Heart – so it works out perfectly that the band is performing 8 p.m. Friday night.

“We’re really excited about the entertainment this year,” said festival chairman Bo Miller. “We’ve got a great line-up.”

Country duo Steel Magnolia headlines tonight at 8 p.m., and the music continues on Friday with rock bands Bikini Frankenstein and Black Beard’s Delight.

The entertainment continues Saturday with a series of dance groups in the morning, including the Country Cloggers and Tiffany’s School of Dance.

Country singer Aaron Vance will perform on Saturday, along with soulful folk band Bonfire Orchestra. The Gents round out Saturday night’s entertainment.

Gospel music completes the festival on Sunday.

“We have all kinds of music, from country to rock to everything in between,” Miller said.

In addition to music and dancing, the festival also features arts and crafts vendors, a car show, 5k and kids’ carnival.

“It’s blowing up. We have over 200 arts and crafts vendors, making this the biggest Railroad Festival ever,” Miller said. “(The vendors) are selling every kind of everything you can think of.”
