NEW ALBANY – Join the Union County Master Gardeners and Mississippi State Extension as they once again celebrate the coming of spring Friday and Saturday at the fifth annual New Albany Home & Garden Show.
“Windows into Spring” will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Union County Fairgrounds in New Albany. The event will offer seminars on everything from container gardens, herbs and beekeeping to growing food for farmers’ markets and controlling destructive diseases.
“Last year’s attendance was 2,615,” said Tim Burress, garden show chairman. “We’re shooting for 3,500 this year. People really turn out for this thing. It’s gotten bigger every year.”
Keynote speakers for the event include Carol Reese and Jason Reeves, ornamental horticulture specialists at the University of Tennessee Extension; Lelia Kelly, consumer horticulture specialist with MSU Extension; and Kevin Hinton, AIFD, the manager of Bankhead Florist in New Albany.
There will be door prizes, demonstrations, lectures, garden displays, information booths and vendors selling plants, tools, garden art and food.
There is no admission to the two-day show, but tickets for Kevin Hinton’s noon presentation and luncheon on Friday are $15 and seating is limited. Call (662) 316-0088 to reserve your tickets.
