Tupelo’s first craft beer festival gearing up

TUPELO – Veterans Park is buzzing with activity created by its upcoming weekend guest. The Craft Beer Festival folks are hard at work getting things set up for the city’s inaugural event Saturday.

The festival will take place from noon to 5 p.m. under a large tent. Tickets are $35 and are available online at www.tupelocraftbeerfest.com.

Tickets are also available at Papa V’s, the Blue Canoe or the Neon Pig, all in Tupelo.

They will be $40 at the gate on Saturday.

Thirty confirmed vendors will be at the festival each with three to five beers to sample. Participants get a commemorative glass snifter emblazoned with the festival’s logo.

Festival organizer Matt Leff said he is working with several area organizations to ensure everyone stays safe on Saturday. The CVB has assisted with securing shuttles that will travel from Veterans Park to the Hilton Garden Inn downtown and to the Marriott Courtyard on North Gloster Street. The shuttles will run continuously throughout the day.

Plan ahead to secure reliable transportation, Leff advised. Designated driver tickets are only $10.

Leff also said on Thursday the city granted permission to build fire pits around the tent for the event. The festival will take place rain or shine, with no refunds.

Something to look for at the festival are cask beers, Leff said. These are extremely small batch beers that are not tapped or pressurized in any way, unlike any kind of beer found on store shelves.
