COLUMBUS – On the Spirited Columbus tour, you’ll hear lots of ghostly stories – and you just may spot a ghost.
“Last year there was an account where a group was in the Friendship Cemetery,” said Chris Hannon, who’s over the tour, “and they reported seeing a woman in a white dress walking through the cemetery some distance from them.”
Hannon is giving folks a chance to spot a spook on his new tour, “Spirited Columbus – A Ghost Tour,” which will take place next Friday night in Columbus.
“Columbus is a city that embraces its history,” said Hannon, who was a part of the city’s previous Halloween event, a ghost and legends tour. “It’s a city with a vibrant history.”
The tour will take place on a deluxe minibus, with several points of interest and four stops at which guests will get off the bus and see the stops up close and personal. The tour should take a little over an hour, Hannon said. It’s family-friendly.
“This is not one of those stereotypical ghost, haunted houses where some guy in a mask with a chainsaw jumps out and scares the heck out of you,” Hannon said. “This is a theatrical portrayal, or reenactment, of ghostly occurrences.”
The tour guide said he won’t reveal any of the tour’s stops, to add to the event’s mystery.
However, he and his crew have done research to learn the city’s history and to hear as many ghost stories from locals as possible.
“We did the extra work in researching the stories and researching the accounts,” Hannon said.
Columbus is full of ghosts, he said, and he’s ready to show them off.
“It’s going to be an exciting event,” he said. “We are thrilled to share our knowledge of and interest in ghosts and ghostly occurrences with other people.”
