Hickory Flat First Baptist celebrates 125th

The First Baptist Church in Hickory Flat celebrated its 125th anniversary last weekend, hosting a 95th birthday celebration for the church’s oldest member Will T. Hudspeth. Hudspeth also holds the title of the longest serving Deacon at Hickory Flatt.

During a special service, the Rev. Gary Linville presented Hudspeth with a resolution from the town of Hickory Flat declaring Aug. 24, 2013 as William Thomas Hudspeth Day in Hickory Flat.

The weekend featured special music from the church’s former music ministers as well as the Geesling Brothers Southern gospel group, and guest preaching from Dr. Jim Futral, executive director of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board.
