Jamie Davis & Soul Gravy Announced as Opener for Hank Williams, Jr. and Dierks Bentley

Jamie Davis met Dan Isbell at Northeast Mississippi Community College while both were attending on country music scholarships and performingin the on-campus band Campus Country. When Davis and Isbell transferred to Mississippi StateUniversity, they began playing in local bars to help pay their living expenses while attending college. The pair performed as Soul Gravy with a rotating lineup that eventually solidified in 2007 with the addition of experienced musicians Jerry Carnathan (lead guitar), John Staggers (drums), and newest addition Lee Graham (bass).

The natural frontman of the group, Davis has an unique and unmistakable vocal style, blending an easy, down-home country timbre with the technique and emotion of the very best R&B singers. Staggers, Graham, and Isbell lay down an incredibly tight, often downright funky rhythm section while Carnathan’s wild but tasteful country/bluesy guitar style adds bells and whistles (and sometimes, fireworks) to every song. But the group’s calling card is Davis, Isbell, and Carnathan’s smooth, classic three-part harmony blend.
