TUPELO – Justin Moore has a job most can only dream of: He’s hanging out with his friends, playing music, and touring the country.
Oh yeah, and thousands of fans are invited.
“I’m really good friends with Randy Houser and Josh Thompson. Anytime you get to go out on tour it’s fun. When you do it with your buddies, it’s even better,” Moore said in a phone interview with the Daily Journal from his home in Arkansas. “I can’t wait to get it kicked off. It’ll be fun.”
Moore’s headlining tour shares the name of his latest album, “Off the Beaten Path,” which he released in September.
“We’re playing some of the new stuff, but fortunately for us, we’ve got a lot of songs we have to play or people will leave mad,” Moore said. “It’s kind of fun putting a show together. I didn’t realize it would be as hard as it was. It’s pretty difficult after you’ve had some success on the radio. It’s kind of like putting together a puzzle.”
The “Off the Beaten Path” tour will continue into next spring, so 2014 will continue the high times Moore’s had this year.
“(The new album) sold right at 100,000 right at the first week, and that was incredibly humbling,” he said. “It’s really exciting, and I feel so blessed to be where we are.”
Moore said he’ll focus on touring for a while before recording again.
“Hopefully no recording (soon) – I don’t even want to think about making an album. It’s stressful. It’s a lot of fun, but it’s stressful and nerve-wracking and all that,” he said.
All the fun, he said, is on the stage.
“We’re all three great friends, and you’re gonna get a lot of hit songs to sing along to. It’s gonna be a party,” he said. “My goal, especially on this tour, is to make sure everybody feels like they got their money’s worth. I have no doubt we’ll do that.”
