Congratulations to the high school boys’ basketball team for winning their game in the Tupelo Kiwanis Tournament on Dec. 16. The boys also won their game Dec. 15 with Baldwyn.

Exams began Dec. 15 and will be completed today, Dec. 20.

Congratulations to Miss Tracy Smith at Nettleton High School and Mrs. Paula Kennedy at Nettleton Primary School and Nettleton Elementary School, who certified with the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. Congratulations to Mrs. Brenda Ratliff at Nettleton High School and Mrs. Marty Clark at Nettleton Primary School who also completed all assignments for certification and continue to do work to be National Board certified next year.

Nettleton School District has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the office of Child Nutrition to fund an immersion program and six week long intensive study to help students, parents and community members be aware of the dietary guidelines and the suggested physical activity for children and adults. There will be a kick off with an announced team competition in each school. Parent involvement is needed! If you would like to be part of this great celebration and learning, please let us know immediately. Send a note to: P.O. Drawer 409, Attention: Mr. Louis Rowles, or call 963-2151 to indicate you would like to take part. This will be a great learning experience for everyone.

I shall leave you with this … Have a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year and don’t forget to remember “the reason for the season.”
