TUPELO – The elegance of Paris comes to Tupelo this weekend with the 51st annual Charity Ball.
The event, hosted by Junior Auxiliary of Tupelo, has a Parisian theme this year.
“It’s all of the components of Paris: the fashion, music, architecture, the street scenes,” said Charity Ball chairwoman Jackie Deaton.
“Le Grand Bal Parisien” also includes the Outstanding Citizen of the Year announcement and presentation of living ads. This year there’s a record number of living ads at 176.
Entertainment includes the Tupelo High School Madrigals and the Civic Ballet, and Dr. Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster will provide dance music.
Park Heights is catering the event. The Charity Ball is Junior Auxiliary’s only fundraiser, and the money raised goes right back into the community.
“We currently have nine projects we’re working on,” said president Brandi Long.
Those projects include Integrity Time, which focuses on character education; Shine, a week-long camp for middle school girls; Wave, a program for 6th grade boys; and scholarships.
The Charity Ball gives revelers an opportunity to give back while enjoying a night out.
“It’ll be a lot of fun,” Deaton said. “If you want to see Paris in Tupelo, this is the place to come.”
Tickets are available at J. Britt Lighting, Flowerdale Marketplace, Reed’s Gift Shop, Staggs and Village Frame Shoppe.
