ABERDEEN – Adventure is the theme for Thursday’s summer movie series, sponsored by the Aberdeen Visitors Bureau. This month’s free movie is ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark,’ the first installment of the Indiana Jones saga.

While people can gather at 7:30 p.m. tonight on the front lawn of The Magnolias for the movie that starts at dark, the more adventure-inclined can meet at 6:30 p.m. to break into four teams for a treasure hunt on the grounds of the antebellum home.

“We had a scavenger hunt last year to go with our showing of ‘The Goonies’ and a treasure hunt goes perfectly with this movie. It’s family-friendly fun that will highlight The Magnolias,” said AVB director Tina Robbins.

The treasure hunt, dubbed The Magnolias Crusade, plays off the spirit of the Indiana Jones saga where participants will have to follow clues and collect artifacts. Snacks will be available for the movie and people are welcome to bring their own snacks, blankets and lawn chairs as well.

The summer movie series will close July 24 with a free screening of ‘E.T.’ For more information, call 369-9440.
