Mississippi State forward Mario Austin told ESPN.com Thursday he was bolting for the fortunes of the NBA.
It comes three weeks after he told the Daily Journal he was returning to Mississippi State for his junior year and one week removed from a press release issued by the university backing up that statement.
“I changed my mind, and feel I’m ready to expand my game to the next level,” Austin told the Web site. “This is my decision, and I’m not going to change my mind. I’m staying in the draft.”
If the 6-foot-9, 255-pound Austin happens to have another change of heart, he has until June 19 to do. All underclassman have until May 12 to declare for the draft, which is June 26 in New York.
